MLAC - MUSEO LABORATORIO DI ARTE CONTEMPORANEA

Interventi urbani sono quelle operazioni artistiche che mirano a coinvolgere un pubblico diverso da quello degli addetti ai lavori del mondo dell'arte, e scelgono pertanto come luogo di svolgimento le vie e le piazze della città, piuttosto che le gallerie e i musei. Lo spazio urbano diventa quindi non solo lo spazio fisico, il contesto architettonico, ma anche e soprattutto il contesto umano, un insieme di rappporti, abitudini, gesti, stili di vita che abitano la città, che intervengono nel contesto cittadino, modificandolo e interagendo variamente con esso, con i suoi abitanti e i suoi stili di vita.
Per illustrare compiutamente la complessità di questa forma d'arte, il progetto è articolato in tre sezioni: all'interno del Museo Laboratorio è raccolta la documentazione relativa agli interventi (video, fotografie, installazioni), nel convegno alcuni degli artisti presenti in mostra, accanto a docenti universitari, critici e galleristi sono invitati a parlare e a confrontarsi sulle problematiche che emergono da questo operare artistico, all'esterno del Museo, nelle vie della città o in luoghi che vengono ritenuti di volta in volta particolarmente significativi, diversi artisti hanno realizzato interventi e performance.
Gruppo A12, On/Stalker, Pino Modica, Pino Boresta, Brigata Es, Salvatore Falci, Adriana Torregrossa, Why Style, rappresentano in modi diversi le loro inter-azioni con la città, non limitandosi ad operazioni di arredo urbano, bensì mirano ad interagire direttamente con il paesaggio umano e urbano, nel tentativo di indagare anche gli aspetti più banali del vivere quotidiano, di instillare il dubbio, ribaltare le convenzioni, scardinare i luoghi comuni, smentire i pensieri, le abitudini comode, per buttarci nel luogo delle possibilità, della scoperta, dell'ignoto: in una parola, della riflessione.
Alla base di queste azioni si insinua un interesse sociale che s'accompagna alla presunzione che l'artista abbia ancora un ruolo importante da giocare nella società. Esiste però la necessità di stabilire la loro collocazione all'interno del contesto artistico contemporaneo, attraverso il confronto, la riflessione critica, la discussione, ma anche la possibilità di osservare, seguire e partecipare direttamente ad alcuni di questi interventi.
La mostra è realizzata nella programmazione del Museo laboratorio con il contributo della Regione Lazio e con il patrocinio del Comune di Roma, nell'ambito dei corsi sperimentali di Stage/Master in Cura Critica e Installazione Museale, voluti dal direttore del Museo Simonetta Lux e realizzati dal curatore del MLAC Domenico Scudero.

Interventi Urbani are the kind of artistic operations that aim to involve a public that is not tipically artistical one, that choose for this reason as place of exhibition streets and places instead of galleries and museums. The urban room becomes in this way not only the physical and architectural contex but even and above all the human context, a whole of relationships, habits, gestures, ways of life that characterize the city, which intervene in the citizen context changing it and interacting with it and with its inhabitants and with its ways of life.
The project is divided into three sections to illustrate in a compiute way the complessity of this form of art. Inside the laboratory museum are collected the documentation relative to the interventions ( videos, pictures, installations), during the meeting some of the present artists toghether with university teachers, critics and art gallery's owners are invited to speack and confront each other with the problems that emerge from this way to work. Outside of the museum, in the streets of the city, or in those places that are considered particolarly meaningful several artists carryed out interventions and performances.
A 12 Group, Stalker Group, Pino Modica, Pino Boresta, Brigata Es, Salvatore Falci, Adriana Torregrossa, Why Style, represent in different ways their interactions with the city, not limiting their work as a kind of urban design, but they aim to interact directly with the human and urban scenery, to investigate even the more banal aspects of everyday living, to insinuate the doubt, to turn over the conventions, to unhinge the common place, to belie the thoughts, the confortable habits, to plunge in the place of the possibilties, of the discover, the unknown: in a word in the place of the reflection.
These artistic operations, hide a social interest, toghether with a presumption that the artist plays an important role in the society. But it is necessary to establish their position inside the contemporary artistic context, through the comparison, the critic reflection, the discussion, but even the possibility to observe, to follow, to partecipate directly to some of these interventions.
The exhibition is realized according the Laboratory program of MLAC, with the contribution of the region of Lazio, the Borough Council Clerk's office of the Cultural politics and the Province of Rome. It is realized according the MLAC program of experimental courses of Stage/Master in Critical Curating and Museum Installation. Given by the director of the museum Simonetta Lux and realized by the MLAC's curator Domenico Scudero.
